Scarves

I thought I would begin the blog with some posts of fashion items to make you look cool, and so I thought I would begin with Scarves. Scarves are not only for winter, but that doesn’t mean you should wear just any scarf at any time. Scarves are also a great accessory to give you a carefree look, or a serious dapper look depending on the scarf and how you wear it. Here is a quick rundown on scarves.

Silk Scarves: these scarves are not for the faint hearted, wear one in winter to stay warm, wear one casually in summer to look like a very rich and cool customer. These scarves are traditionally made for women so only choose styles and colours that follow MALE fashion traditions. No pinks, purples, yellows oranges or any bright colour including bright white, wearing these will give you a look of cheapness. Instead wear earthy colours, blue/greys, off white and black colours. To look really chic, play around with different ways of wearing it such as tied up and turned to the side, or just hanging down over your chest, as long as you don’t start using scarf rings you should be fine.

Wool and Cashmere Scarves: the most common scarf worn by men and one that should only be worn in winter with a coat. These scarfs can be chunky and cool and you can get them incredibly cheap. Try to get an assortment of dark coloured scarves or even camel coloured if you are a fan of wearing browns. They can be worn in a few different ways, such as a single loop around the neck with ends hanging in front, hanging from the neck or hanging from the neck with a knot in the middle.

Cotton Scarves: Like silk scarves, cotton scarves are trans-seasonal and just as versatile. Follow the same rules for colour and style and you will be set. Try and buy light weaves as they have nice movement to them and in summer you want them to make u look cool, not make you sweat more!

Fur Scarves: You can spare me the moral and ethical backtalk, I’m a huge believer in animal rights but in fashion, I think you should wipe away you misgivings, there are ways to buy fur without too much regret and ill write a post about that later. Fur scarves are a wonderful winter treat; nothing is warmer or more luxurious. Unless you are very outgoing I would suggest a shorter fur such as rabbit, mink, sable, muskrat or chinchilla. Longer furs tend to be a nuisance and are more for women. Where possible, buy darker pelts, rich chocolates or blacks and choose longer scarves to wear on the outside of jackets and shorter ones to wear inside. Fur pieces are generally quite hard to source and cost a fair bit for certain types such as chinchilla and sable, so use the internet and remember a good fur will last you for a long time and there is nothing more sensuous than the feeling of fur.
