Another Amazing Designer - Antonin Tron

They say when it rains, it pours, and just as I find the work of Timo Weiland, I find this amazing French designer, its Alexander McQueen meets Vivienne Westwood meets the couture of my dreams. I’m going to let the clothing speak for itself, although most of it is about 2 years old, it is still AMAZING!

Designer Alert - Timo Weiland

The thing I like about late nights is that you often get bored, and end up trolling the internet for inspiration, and when I found this designer, I was inspired, his pieces are simple with a little twist. it is in one word, cool, and although you have to be in America, Europe or Japan to buy his stuff, I’m sure it's not going to be a long wait till we see it in our stores, this, I feel is going to be BIG.

New Dior Homme Spring 2010

A bit of a sneak peak of the new collection, I will try and rustle up some images of the show. The campaign shoot is very sombre... but I do love the Chukka (desert) boots with the zips in the back, it reminds me of a pair of Marc Jacobs high-tops I considered buying...

A Parisian Love Story: APC Spring 2011

After my previous post about Chanel's faux fur fiasco, I thought I would share the look book from another French brand, APC, and do you know what? I love it, its preppy, and fun, and clean cut, it’s what I would imagine Fred from Scooby Doo wearing (and that’s a good thing because that boy was rocking the cravat before Matt Preston). I love the suede brogues and that nautical trench, the collection is quite amazing....

Faux Fur Faux Pas

Now I showed you a sneak peak of the Chanel Mens ready to wear collection about a month ago (the gay Wookies above). I was thinking the collection can only get better, but once again faux fur raised its ugly head and proved me wrong...

Yogi bear called, he wants his hind legs returned....

Perhaps it is just me, but this reminds me of the snow monster from Stars Wars...

The real reason why King Kong was taken to New York is so Monsieur Lagerfeld could skin him...

Little did the beavers from Narnia know, but the Pevensie children were in the employ of a different white queen altogether...

Although there are a few nice pieces, (the bag in the second photo and the sweater in the fifth), there is indeed the only look which I would consider decent and it is this one, it’s very Russian pre-revolution with the dramatic coat, it has an almost military vibe to the whole thing.

RAFW: nANA jUDY

I’m expecting to receive an email in the next few days telling me to take these photos down but until then I wish to share with you a collection from RAFW that was one of my favourites. Partly because my style has once been described as "too tight, too short, too low" but I love comfortable clothes so a low hanging singlet makes me happy. These clothes if I could imagine situations where you would plan to wear them would be music festivals and balmy summer beach parties. There is just such a cool essence to these clothes. The collection is all about distressed denim, low necklines and short shorts, I’m not crazy about denim shorts, and this is no exception. So enjoy these photos and if you want to buy some order online or head down to Jack clothing in Subiaco in a few months and buy some.

Did i mention i love the lowtop black shoes....

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

Well with possibly the biggest fashion event on the Australian calendar on at the moment, it would be insane of me to not write a post about it, unfortunately it is impossible for me to provide images as every image I find that would make a worthwhile addition to the post is copyright protected. So I’m just going to have to write about what trends are coming out and the designers that require a Google.
TRENDS

• Loose fitting tee-shirts with scoop necks have appeared in the collections of Kirrily Johnston, Humility Couture and Premonition.
• Tailored shorts cut above the knee appeared in nearly every collection.
• Black and White stripes and patterns in KJ, Bassike and nANA jUDY.
• The colours of choice appear to be blue, grey, black and white.
• Vests, Sport coats and tailored shirts are all the rage from Saint Augustine Academy
• Stolen Girlfriends Club was all about prints and oversized shirts.
• Zambesi went monochromatic with black, white and grey and decided on sport coats with shorts.
• Kirrily Johnston went ethnic with harem-ish pants, large scarves and lots of black and white.
• Bassike also did some harem pants as well as some double denim and some pretty awesome shorts.
• Humility Couture did some amazing loose fitting shirts and vests, their skinny acid wash jeans look like they will be a summer hit also.
• Premonition was all about prints and shirts with bowties, not really my style.
• UNnaked once again did black and white with some grey, including some nice tailored shorts and some shoes that I am currently looking for a stockist to buy them from.
• Mawlai is doing the same scoop neck with tailored shorts, but is using a nice coral colour.
• nANA jUDY is all about low plunging singlets and I will be buying them all as its very ksubi and very casual cool with ya tits out. Their distressed denim and leather jackets are cool also.
• a.concept was very conceptual, but once again low necklines, lots of black and a slim silhouette.

So basically, the main things are scoop neck tee-shirts, tailored shirts, sport coats, tailored shorts, singlets and vests. as most Australian brands are relatively unknown I suggest giving them a Google for their stockists as there is a lot of ready to wear stuff from these collections that we should be buying, not only for ourselves but to support these struggling designers who put their heart and soul into each collection.
I know you can buy nANA jUDY from Jack Clothing in Subiaco, Zambesi from Wasteland,
And Stolen Girlfriends Club from Subway DC.
The rest you can Google but don’t expect the new collections to be on the website!

Get Ya Guns Out.....

So a big trend for the past two years has been military. And no this doesn’t mean you should go down to the army surplus store and buy camo gear and a knife! This trend is all about lightweight shirts and singlets, jackets with military details, trench coats and combat boots.

Burberry Men's 2010

The trench coat was, as its name suggests, invented for trench warriors, a long coat to protect its wearer from rain and keep their entire body warm while remaining hardwearing. And while your trench coat of choice could be anything from a simple black cotton trench, a khaki woollen trench or a metallic gold trench, the key is versatility. Opt for trenches with a removable lining, this means it can be worn in more climates. Make sure the trench looks good multiple ways, loosely thrown on, belted and with the belt tied behind, the more looks you get from your trench the happier you will be. This year we are inspired by the era of war, clean cuts, functionality and the era of rationing (the GFC may be over but the aforementioned gold trench may be a bit much). As I always say, use simple colours and earthy tones, it makes it easier to create an outfit with anything from your wardrobe. Head to Pierucci and check out their black trench, if that doesn't appeal, Burberry is always a sure thing.

Balmain Homme

Military shirts can range from formal to very casual. Opting for a button up shirt without a collar creates a very dapper look when worn with a jacket. Whereas the trick for a casual look is a simple earthy or white coloured light shirt such as the ones from Balmain Homme. Also wearing a lighter shirt means you won’t overheat! Buttoned shirts with epulets in earthy tones are also amazing!

Combat boots are back and it surprises me how many ugly boots come out of the woodwork during the weekend. DO NOT wear actual military tactical boots, they are far too bulky. Doc Martins may be celebrating some ridiculous anniversary this year but they are not combat boots, they are the shoes worn by punk bands in the 80's and if you like to have some sturdy shoes for your walk from the fridge back to your game of World of War craft then by all means wear those bad boys!
Combat boots should be sleek, and the en vogue way to wear them is for them to be fully laced up with skinny jeans, but I still think wearing them loose is a great look. by far the best military boots I’ve seen have been from Wayne cooper, they come in two colours and for less than $200, they are something that is easily attainable (from Myer in the city and possibly from Wayne Cooper in Claremont).
